Ukrzaliznytsia liquidates MAFs and alcohol bottling kiosks at the Kyiv Central Railway Station

By the end of the week Ukrzaliznytsia will launch the second large-scale wave of dismantling of the so called MAFs at the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station. 26 outlets will be liquidated at the Vokzalna Square and at the station concourse. This was reported by the board member of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia Marcin Celejewski.

According to him, the dismantling of the MAFs at the station has been going on since the fall of last year. “Our goal is to make Ukraine's main rail gates a comfortable and safe space for citizens. As part of a comprehensive program of improving customer service Nazustrich Klientu, Ukrzaliznytsia has begun eliminating chaotic trade outlets and tightening control over order and security at the station. Last year, we closed 10 kiosks at the Vokzalna Square, and already this Friday the second large-scale wave of dismantling the MAFs will start, ”he said. In particular, the company plans to demolish 10 MAFs located near the western subway and another 16 points in the concourse that connects the Central and South stations. Liquidation includes trading territories to which the lease term has expired, including those bottling alcohol. The MAFs that remain at the station will be reconstructed and brought into a single style.

In addition, in February 2020 Ukrzaliznytsia involved The National Police to strengthen law and order at the station. Currently, there are 15 police posts in the Central and South stations, with 25 law enforcement officers on duty. «Police protection will allow to provide order at the station and already shows the first positive results. We are currently testing a new format of cooperation with the law enforcement agenciy at the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station, and in the future we plan implement it at other large railtoad stations of the country, ” Marcin Celejewski summarized.
