UKRZALIZNYTSIA REVEALS OVER 1,000 VIOLATIONS OF PASSENGER TRAIN CREW FOR TWO MONTHS

The inspection that oversees passenger servicing at railways and on trains through January-February 2013 inspected 97 passenger trains of State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia to check how conductors and train crew fulfill their duties, and as a result, discovered 1,086 violations.

In particular 139 fare dodgers were detained, 13 cases of carrying surplus hand baggage were discovered, 53 violations of work rules, 61 violations of official duties, and 873 violations of sanitary-technical conditions were registered.

As a result of the checks, revisions of ticket prices worth UAH 1,600 and fines worth UAH 10,900 were registered. Moreover, two criminal cases were opened regarding violations in the servicing of passengers on trains and the railways since the beginning of the year.

In 2012 during inspections 2,478 violations were discovered on long-distance and suburban trains. In particular, 1,199 passengers without tickets and 61 cases of carrying surplus hand baggage were found.

In addition, the inspection discovered 179 violations of working rules of the train crew, 298 cases of the improper fulfillment of duties and 1,685 problems with the sanitary-technical condition of passenger cars.

In general in 2012, the employees of the inspection found 24 cases of mass transportation of passengers without tickets on long-distance and local trains.

Within the last year 686 passenger trains were checked.

Moreover, the service inspected trains of other states that run on the territory of Ukraine. In 2012 35 trains running via Baltic and CIS states were checked. As a result, 194 passengers without tickets and 720 kilograms of surplus hand baggage were discovered.
